MY SOUND CARD

After being flanked from behind many times while attempting Sniper Fi in Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 while using the onboard Sigmatel STACC C-major audio I decided to purchase a custom sound card. So i checked out my local computer dealer and saw they had the Creative SoundBlaster Audigy SE 7.1 in stock , now this card is the same as the x-fi music so its pretty good for music. In windows 7 x64 this card performs well , had no issues with the driver cd but when i updated the drivers I could not use the control panels for the card so i had to reinstall the drivers. I tested this card with Test Drive Unlimited and Call Of Duty Modern Warfare2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2, I didn't hear a difference in Test Drive but in the other 2 games there was major difference , when the bullets hit the different surfaces it was clearly heard and I wasn't flanked as easily as before in Sniper Fi but I must reposition my rear speakers for better coverage of behind. I use this card with a Logitech X-540 5.1 surround sound , it may not be powerful but it does sound great , it gives out nice clean bass and the mids and highs are good also. With the additional graphic equalizer , surround mixer and EAX adjustments this card makes listening to music a pleasure to the ears. It also makes gaming more realistic as you can tell which direction sound is coming from better than before. This sound card comes with a case badge and software cd but the manual is online and do not use the updates it will not work with the card, I am not sure if its just me but that happened to me when i updated. And thats my sound card that will be going in my new custom PC
My graphics card

So after about 5 years of my dell dimension 9150 i decided to install a new video card and replace the old but faithful ati radeon x300se 128mb. I first bought a XFX 8400gs 512mb ddr2, 64-bit. I bought that card because I knew that this computer was going to be used for security. But I didn't care because at the time i thought this was going to be my 'next-gen' system. My first expression when i saw this card was, Huh? Small card, cool i'll stress it out by overclocking. Soon after my first test was Test Drive Unlimited, i know its old but it rocks. The card lagged horribly below 15fps with the HDR turned on and graphics at medium and resolution at 1024x768. So then i taught of overclocking , while searching for a decent program i stumbled over EVGA Precision , i really liked the simplicity of it. After raising the core clock from 450 to 610(i tested this in steps, my highest beats the world record 720), i bumped up the memory clock from 350 to 450(after testing at various steps) . I knew this card was ready for something after overclocking , but i just didnt know what, Then i came across Need For Speed SHIFT , with the graphics on medium-high and the resolution at 800x600 no AA , the GT-R's VR38DETT roared to life. In testing with these settings this game , i got around 15-25fps , average i would say around 20. It performed well enough for me to shame and beat the aggresive competition SHIFT featured. But when it came to GTA IV(I will get revenge!!!!!) this card suffered major lag in the night time i got 8-12fps and in the day 15-18fps but apart from that my CPU and ram also helped this game to defeat my new card. So in shame i left GTA IV with all of its mad men, mods and the worst part my system caused this game to have major freezing from time to time. I didn't play much games on the 8400gs but then a ray of light shown upon me it was the latest , the greatest and the best card in the world the EVGA 9500gt 1gb DDR2 128-bit, this card toppled the ati hd5970 2gb(lol ok i lied about the description of this card, but its still the best to me). This card came with lots of cool stuff such as DVI to VGA adapter, Case badges, Component s-video cable for connecting to HD TV and the software cd which i browsed through. I saw fraps and the evga precision program and the nvidia drivers in the CD. So my first test GTA IV(i kinda got revenge!!! Damn you Dell) This card played on all high settings but again the cpu and ram slowed the game to 10-15 fps in night and i got 20-25fps in day but it still froze to a halt from time to time so i quit gta iv again. However in my new pc which is soon to come, i will conquer gta iv and my cpu and ram most definately will not be an issue. So in conclusion i really like the EVGA 9500gt 1gb, it plays any and everything but it may not compare to the newer cards but i still love it.
